"I never really understood why I didn't feel more satisfied with my life until I saw my self-actualization score, and learned how goal setting is supposed to work. I hated setting goals and being measured by other people. It made me feel nervous and defensive. By working on self-regard and self-actualization at the same time, I've started accomplishing more, and so of couse I feel better about myself. I took the EQ measure as part of a leadership development initiative, and I'd always known I needed to improve my assertiveness, but, being a software engineer, I'd never paid all that much attention to how I felt. Working the emotional self awareness formula four or five times a day for about a month brought that aspect into focus. Once I knew how I felt it wasn't as hard to say it, and people began to respond to me differently. I feel more comfortable when there's conflict and more effective. ---Gary, Dallas
